PREMIUM: Symposium #6 | Carl Schmitt’s Antiliberalism

He was a German constitutional theorist and political thinker whose fame was tarnished due to the fact that he actively supported the Nazi party. In this discussion, we evaluate his understanding of sovereignty, his claim that the essence of politics is the distinction between friends and enemies, as well as the question whether classical liberalism can be defended against Schmitt’s criticism.
