Jonah Hill, and Why Men Can’t Marry Mermaids
Silver Members - Listen to Audio Version
There is a painting by Elihu Vedder hanging in Harvard’s Fogg Museum, titled Fisherman and Mermaid. It depicts a young fisherman, striding from shore, with nets over one shoulder, and his fish-footed lover on the other. The caption on the wall beside it explains, “Whether depicting a destructive temptress or helpless victim, the mermaid embodies the inner conflict of having to exist in two different worlds.” After private texts were leaked by his ex, I’m certain this is how Jonah Hill is feeling this week.
