How I Became Pro-Life

Time is a funny old thing. Views you once thought integral to your core principles change as you grow, mature, and gain new perspectives on the world. One of the most surprising developments for me over the past few months was coming to a pro-life position on abortion. 

I previously held the usual assumptions about abortion; I hadn’t thought much about it at all. I assumed that a woman’s ‘right to choose’ was the be-all-end-all and considered the subject no further. I did at times encounter situations or information that made me second guess myself—a conversation with a friend about the near total elimination of children born with Down Syndrome in Iceland rang some alarm bells. But aside from that conversation, I had little other reason to consider the topic in any depth.
