Frequently Asked Questions
To upload a video question will require a Gold premium account. As a Gold tier member You can post video comments on any post that accepts them (Generally podcast episodes & Premium videos), you should see an "upload a video question" button just above the comment section on any video that has this an an option. We advise uploading any comments for the podcast to the latest available episode to avoid them being missed.
Comment uploads are limited to 15 MB, unfortunately we are unable to offer larger uploads or accept submissions via email. We recommend using a video converter to reduce the file size; it's free to use, doesn't require a subscription and is user friendly. Alternatively, adjusting the length or bitrate of the video on edited comments may help reduce the size.
Video comments for the show will be published on the podcast page after the show has aired each day, and, at our editorial team's discretion, each day, a selection of comments from the previous few days will be aired live to the hosts. If your comment isn't picked, don't worry; it should still appear on the site as long as it meets our other guidelines. In most cases, a "missed" comment was either submitted too late for the current day's show and will appear under a later episode. Occasionally, however, we're unable to publish a comment at all. Generall,y this will fall into one of the following categories:
It contains music. - Where we are unable to determine the licence on a song, or clearly determine fair use, we will air on the side of caution. We'll often remove the music if we can, however this may result in your comment being removed where it's not possible for us to do so.
It contains swearing - We endeavour not to have swearing on our site due to viewers potentially having their little ones present while we are on. As such we ask our commenters to avoid swearing in their comments. We will generally bleep out any swears, however, you if you have a potty mouth it can cause your comment to be delayed or not published at all.
It's broken or believed to be broken (missing audio, for example) - Occasionally, a file will come to us corrupted or with a problem that prevents it from being processed. Our editor will do his best to fix it, but we may need to contact you to ask you to resubmit it.
It's too spicy - While we do love a bit of spice at The Lotus Eaters, and can be more spicy on our site than we could on YouTube. We are still beholden to UK laws, as well as the TOS of some of the secondary destinations of our stream. If you're overly spicy you might get a laugh from the staff, but risk your comment being not published.
It's not constructive, relevant or is a direct attack/threat towards members of our community - We understand the necessity of being able to disagree with or critique the opinions and rhetoric of others, however, we are not a platform for people to air their dirty laundry or personal issues with individuals - please keep it above the belt and relevant to our brand, hosts or community.
It's on an old episode - In rare instances, comments uploaded to older episodes of the podcast may not be seen as quickly as they otherwise might be. We advise trying to upload to the latest episode where possible to avoid disappointment.
