Britain’s Aversion to Self Defence

It’s a peculiarly modern, privileged attitude that tells us that we can easily and safely go about our lives unmolested, without the threat of violence, as if this status quo is as old as time. While UK crime rates have certainly dropped since the spike of the early to mid 90s’, the threat of violence is still something many have to contend with daily, especially those living within cities. As such, it is staggering to me to think that most means of protecting yourself within the UK are not just highly restricted, but in many cases completely illegal to the public.
